Hyvä is the storefront most Magento (Adobe Commerce) rebuilds in 2026 are quoted on, and it is also the credential most often claimed on agency homepages. This guide sticks to what hyva.io and its documentation state, lists which agencies on this site appear on hyva.io's own pages, and gives a Canadian merchant a way to check any Hyvä claim in five minutes.
What Hyvä is, per its own pages
Hyvä's documentation describes a theme for Magento 2 built on Tailwind CSS, which needs Node.js 20 or higher on development instances, and Alpine.js. It sets the Magento floor at 2.4.4-p9, 2.4.5-p8, 2.4.6-p7, or 2.4.7-p1 or higher, and its copyright notice runs from 2020. hyva.io's partners page states that 7,000+ online stores use its products, and its license page states that the Hyvä theme is open source and free, available on GitHub and through free license keys under the OSL and AFL licenses, with up to 5 keys per customer account or a joint 50 per agency partner group, and that 6,000+ merchants use it.
That last point is a change. The July edition of this guide described Hyvä as a commercial framework with a one-time license per store, and named a creator and a launch year. On 22 September 2026 hyva.io states the theme is free, and no page read names the creator or the year, so both statements are withdrawn. A merchant quoted a Hyvä license fee this year should ask what the fee covers, since the theme license itself is now stated to be free.

hyva.io's partners page groups partners as Platinum, Gold, and Silver, and its agency finder also shows Bronze. Two of the six agencies appear: scandiweb at Platinum and Kinex Media at Silver. Kinex Media's listing is the newer fact; the July edition of this site showed its Hyvä column as empty, and its Magento and Hyvä pages now state Hyvä Silver Partner alongside the finder entry. The other four have no entry on either hyva.io page; MageMontreal's homepage shows a Hyvä logo among the technologies it works with, and none of the four states a tier.
Why the version floor matters
Hyvä's floor sits above the versions Adobe has already retired. Per Adobe's lifecycle page as read on 23 September 2026, 2.4.4 left extended support on 14 April 2026 and 2.4.5 on 11 August 2026; 2.4.6 left regular support on 11 August 2026 with extended support to 31 August 2027; 2.4.7 stays in regular support to 31 May 2027, 2.4.8 to 31 May 2028, and 2.4.9, released 12 May 2026, to 31 May 2029. A Canadian store on 2.4.5 that wants Hyvä is buying an upgrade and a storefront in one project, and the quote should say so.
How to check a Hyvä claim
- Search the agency's name on hyva.io's partners page and its agency finder; the tier shown there is the fact
- Ask for one live Hyvä storefront the team built and open it yourself
- Ask which Magento version that store runs and compare it with Hyvä's floor and Adobe's dates
- Ask how many of the people staffed on your project are certified Hyvä developers, by name
- Ask whether the quote includes the upgrade to a supported version or assumes one
Which agency for a Hyvä build in Canada
For a mid-market Toronto-area store, Kinex Media is the listed option at Silver, with Nasco Education named as a Hyvä storefront on its Magento page and a $5,000 minimum on Clutch. For a larger build, or one with an ERP or PIM in scope, scandiweb is listed at Platinum with 40+ Hyvä projects, states a full Eastern Time overlap on its Toronto page, and lists a $25,000 minimum on Clutch. A Quebec merchant who wants the project in French has no hyva.io-listed agency in the province; MageMontreal is the French-first option on this site, and its homepage shows a Hyvä logo among its technologies without naming a Hyvä storefront, so ask for one.
